This is Bat Country

Some would say Anne Karetnikov is an illustrator and an artist. They roam the eastern US and they were last seen painting and looking very sleep deprived.
There is no super good photo of this, but here’s an Alanna Bloom I did in the last hour or so of Saikoucon. Her hair was super cute fun to draw.

Another of the comissions from Saikoucon. A Jotun loki- really fun to do.

A Hades card, as a few of my friends requested to see him and thought somebody might want him. I’m super nervous about Saikoucon this weekend, so I put all my nerves into this. It was helpful! These photos are right after I finished him, before the trim and before signing the card back. He’s mounted on a pretty, vintage playing card with a kinda appropriate motif.

The next ooak card-mounted painting- the Medicine Seller from Mononoke! One of my favorite weird little series, though it’s hard to get people to watch it…

My Jasmine Ooak card! I wonder if anyone will recognize her or like her as much as I do at the moment? I spent a little too much time on her for what i’ll be charging, but tough day was tough. Painting a lovely lady and her tiger was cathartic.

S’ cuse my hands- but enjoy this tiny painting of Black Jack! The good doctor will be accompanying me to saikoucon. He may end up going to other cons too because I doubt he’s popular enough for someone to buy him.
This gives a better impression of the scale of these teenie one of a kind paintings. Also pictured- I often use really cool card backs, like this bicycle reproduction of an old skull and crossbones design that he ended up on. I have all sorts of neat cards to work on! Some new, some vintage. Like most of the others, materials include- playing card, paper and origami paper, watercolors and microns.
